Sledgehammer/Hedgeslammer Notation

The S(Sledgehammer)/H(Hedgeslammer) is not a standard notation method, it's a jargon widely used for Skewb.

Majority of Skewb algorithms could be represented with a combination of S and H.

We define f and f' turn to be the clockwise and counterclockwise turn on this corner:

We define l and l' turn to be the clockwise and counterclockwise turn on this corner:

Here, we define the sledgehammer to be the following four moves:

f' l f l'

We define the Hedgeslammer to be the following four moves:

l f' l' f

Rotation

Rotation is standard, similar to 3x3 cube notations.

FCN Notation

Let's next learn the standard FCN (fixed corner notation).

FCN is the notation used for WCA scrambling and major timer apps. Familiarize with yourself this notation so you may easily understand many discussions or example solves.

Similarly to most puzzles, first letter indicates which corner on Skewb to turn; second optional apostrophe indicates whether to turn counter-clockwise.

Always start with white at top, green at front, red at right.
